The year in random review

It began with a dream. A vision of a modest income and great creative doings. But it was 2009 and times were the crappy side of awful. So we escorted practicality out the door and started an agency—and the good work began.

With only barrels held up by suspenders for clothing, we scratched out brand ideas, working with our handful of clients to produce videos, websites, posters, Flash moments, social conversations, and brands.

On the living our lives side, Sheamus decided to get married. Well it was decided for him. Christian got hit by a van in his rental car and rued the puffy, cavalier way he had declined the extra insurance. Alex just keeps flying back and forth to Korea. When there, he’s living 16 hours in the future from us and sometimes we ask him to tell us who won the 49ers game tomorrow.

This year is going to be a damn fine one. Our ideas are being handed around, supporting better outcomes for the companies who hired us and sparking dialogue with new friends and like-minded partners. We are even considering buying new socks now that business is waking up and grunting positive sounds.

So join us if you can, in any capacity you’d like, be it work, talk, fun, or navel-gazing and fuzz removal.

We’re here, there, focused on the good work.

Enjoy 2010. We firmly believe it’s going to be better than the movie.

The Spring Agency.

Soft launching new site this week

By admin / January 2nd, 2010

It’s like getting a new haircut. Bouncing out of the chair, you feel fitter, faster, a new look and approach that better communicates who you are and where you’re going. That’s how we feel about our new website, it’s a great and grand start. But there’s much to do, much to tweak, much to discover and evolve. We welcome and need your feedback and support.

And in the spirit of full-disclosure, we actually soft-launched the site in November. It seems one of us forgot to approve our announcement post—so here we are, re-purposing this post for the new year. Clever lads, you’re no doubt thinking.

So click here and there. Check back from time to time. We’ll probably change it all in 3 months.

Forever yours,

Spring

Verified Twitter accounts…

By Alex Kim / June 12th, 2009

Are you famous enough to be verified?

That is how Twitter is approaching their Verified Accounts beta test.

Based on the content on their site, they are hand selecting “well-known accounts that have had problems with impersonation or identity confusion” which means 99% of us do not even come close to needing verification.

Businesses can submit for verification but Twitter is not opening it up at this time.

Facebook Usernames for Brands

By Alex Kim / June 11th, 2009

There needs to be some clarification for the vanity URLs that Facebook is going to allow starting tomorrow.

Unless you already have an existing fanpage as of May 31st with at least 1000 fans, you will not be able to create a username for your page.

Again, you need at least 1000 fans on your page if you want to create a username. This means that just because you want to secure your url for your brand, you will not be able to do so unless you were already on Facebook as an active marketer.

I can see how this is going to confuse, frustrate, and baffle many people out there because they will not take the time to read the FAQ and wonder why they can’t create a url on Facebook.

Also note that this is for your Page on Facebook, not your personal profile.

In either case, once you set the name, you cannot change it so choose carefully.
